Class Overview
The Tactician is designed for extreme endurance and strategic, unyielding point defense. This class refines and elevates the Engineer's toolkit, trading the wide-area Flame Turret for concentrated single-target devastation. The Tactician is the mathematically optimal choice for players attempting to set global server records in organized, static group play.
Equipment & Abilities
| Equipment | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Vanguard Turret | Epic | A highly advanced automated defense system capable of outputting extreme, concentrated single-target damage spikes. Particularly effective against high-health, mutated enemy variants that spawn in later waves. |
| Spikes | Rare | Floor-based defensive elements that continuously damage entities attempting to melee your perimeter walls. Provides passive protection without requiring active management. |
| Steel Barricades | Defensive | Inherited from Engineer, these provide the same 5x HP advantage over wooden barricades. Forms the physical foundation of your defensive perimeter. |
Strengths
- Vanguard Turret provides massive single-target damage
- Essential for eliminating elite/boss variants
- Spikes provide passive melee protection
- Steel Barricades offer excellent structural defense
- Optimal for organized team defense
Weaknesses
- Most expensive class before Necromancer
- Vanguard Turret targets single enemies (can be overwhelmed by swarms)
- Requires team support for maximum effectiveness
- Limited solo play capability compared to Demolitionist
Team Role
In a coordinated 4-player team, the Tactician is "The Executioner" - positioned safely behind the fortified line to focus entirely on high-value target elimination. Use the Vanguard Turret's massive single-target damage to eliminate elite zombies that threaten to punch through the barricades.
Vanguard Turret Targeting
The Vanguard Turret's targeting priorities:
- Targets closest enemy by default
- Can be overwhelmed by swarm numbers
- Use Sonar Ping (Marksman) to mark high-HP targets for focused fire
- Position at chokepoints where zombies must funnel through
Synergy with Other Classes
The Tactician pairs perfectly with the Medic (for structure repair) and Engineer (for additional Flame Turret coverage). In an optimal team composition, the Tactician fills the "Marksman/Tactician" slot as "The Executioner" role.
Alternative: Necromancer
If you prefer solo play and AFK farming over organized team defense, consider saving for the Necromancer (200,000 Credits) instead. The Necromancer is the apex class for solo content and enables infinite wave farming.
